Redux Chair in Interior Design Magazine

Sunday, March 3rd, 2013

My Redux Chair had an amazing spot in Interior Design Magazines Fall Market Tabloid. The chair sits on the upper left of page 40 and gets a nice little write up.

I have been thrilled at the response to these chairs. They continue to impress viewers with their alternative joinery and bold red color.

From the article “Harrison Riffs on Gerrit Rietveld’s modernist classic” So cool!

Zig Zag Redux Chairs

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

My line of furniture has a wide variety of pieces, but long absent has been a chair. Things have changed now in a big way. I would like to introduce to you the Redux chair.
I set out to build a modern day take on Rietveld’s classic Zig Zag chair. Using my aluminum joinery and exposed hardware, I joined the panels in a completely Harrison way. The joints are milled out of solid chunks of aluminum and the fasteners are stainless steel. To top it off, these chairs just had to be lacquered red!
We had a great photo shoot in which I asked my friend Sarah to come and participate. You can see the whole shoot here. This is definitely one of my favorite shoots of my work.

Seats of New York

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

In 2008 I was invited to participate in a show called “Seats of New York”. The show was a survey of handmade seating pieces from across New York state. Jon Binzen was the curator and he chose my Jupiter bench. The show ran in conjunction with the Furniture Societies annual conference which was hosted that year at SUNY Purchase.
Recently I came across a video about the show that Jon produced for Fine woodworking magazine. He gives a nice talk about my bench and I wanted to share it. My segment begins at 1:09 into the video.

A catalog was also produced for the show and Jon did a nice write-up about me and my work.

Outdoor Library Bench

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

I was asked to create an outdoor bench for the Cragsmoor Free Library. The bench is featured in a landscaping redo and is dedicated to two longstanding volunteers of the library. The bench has a concrete base and a top made from Ipe, a wood which has strong outdoor characteristics. Furthermore, the top is coated with an outdoor finish made by sikkens. I have had great success with the durability of their exterior finishes.

The Bench weighs close to 350 lbs and commands a nice spot in front of the library. The building was designed by artist Frederick Dellenbaugh and opened in 1925
